Our Story

How it all started...


1945
First organizers of New Center Baptist Church were Mrs. Joyce Carter and Mrs. Ella Caulk. The sunday school was organized first and held in the old school near Mr. Shade Butler's home.

1946
The church building was started on land donated by Mrs. Joyce Carter.


1947
Center Baptist Church, as it was known at that time, met for the purpose of organizing the church on October 26, 1947, Founders Day.  The first minutes were recorded that day and the first pastor was Rev. Jack Collins. Gifts donated were 30 chairs and 25 hymnals by the First Baptist Church of Bladenboro, the pulpit stand by Galeed Baptist Church, communion plates by White Oak Baptist Church, and Timber by Mrs. Kate Kelly. Mrs. Nelly Freeman loaned Center Baptist Church an organ. Mrs. J.J.Ransom was the first Clerk. The first Deacons were L.W. Ransom and Ernest Ashley.

1952
Center Baptist Church became a member of the Bladen Baptist Association August 16,1952. The petitionary committee presented proper application and letters from New Center Baptist and recommended that the church be received in theassociation. Uppon propper motion, and second, the church was received into the association.

1978
On July 2, 1978 our church moved from across the road to our present-day building.  The land of our present building was donated by Dewey Bridger Jr.
